So I started writing this post a while back and then I kinda forgot about it. Now, I finish it:

SO a night or two ago I downloaded the new version of iTunes, iTunes 7. I’m thinking “Wow! A whole number increase! This must be good!”. And it was good. For a while atleast…

Along with the new version of iTunes came a new firmware version for 5g iPods (I have a 60gb 5g). New software = better performance or new features. I quickly updated my iPod and sat down to rock out to some of my music. Song begins to play and then, WHAT?!? iPod restarts?!? Not a big deal but it gets annoying.

–Found out that I can no longer use the EQ feature if I want to listen to podcasts. That is what makes it restart.

But back to the real problem: iTunes 7. I could smell trouble as soon as I installed the new version. My library “is damaged and will be renamed”. There goes all the relevant info on my music… Fortunately, I was one of the smart people that exported their iTunes library before I upgraded. Just reimported the backup file. Works just fine, for a while…

A day or so later, I open up iTunes 7 and my library is gone. No problem: just reimport. Oh, no…

Apparently iTunes has deleted my library file that I imported from eariler.

iTunes 7.0.1 has been a little better but it does not want to sync some of the podcast episodes. Oddly enough, it works just fine on my Mac…

Positives:
Integrated radio works really well. I love listening to Air1!
New Games Support
Library album art view is a really good idea

Negatives:
iPod restarts when I try to play podcasts with the EQ on
Get album art doesn’t work well and only gets a few albums
Unstable - Memory hog
Got to pay for games
Sync feature has gotten worse
Library upgrading is a mess

What I am waiting for:
A new iPod firmware that lets me use the EQ setting with podcasts. The iPod being unstable is very annoying.
Syncing EQ with iTunes. I have some great EQs that I have made that I would love to have on my iPod
iTunes 7.0.2
